St. Lawrence Market is renowned for its specialty vendors, many of whom offer unique products that are hard to find elsewhere. From gourmet cheeses and rare spices to expertly crafted charcuterie and artisanal bread, the market is a haven for food enthusiasts.
There are deals to be had and cheap food to be found, if you know where to look. While the Ossington strip has become pricier in recent years, Kensington Market has retained its cheap and cheerful charm.
They also have a line of “Pelo Name” products, which are generic branded items that offer simplicity and affordability.
To avoid crowds, it’s recommended to shop on weekday mornings and avoid weekends or evenings before holidays.
The drinks are a little more on the pricier side (which balances out the cheap eats), but their cocktails are really good!
One of Metro’s standout features is its focus on fresh and quality produce. Their in-house bakery and deli sections are particularly popular, offering fresh bread, pastries, and gourmet deli products.

They’ve been a favourite of Ryerson students for years, and their prices are very fair for really great food.
